LUCA is a community of passionate directors, producers, DPs and editors available to hire for productions of any scale and scope. With a focus on documentary our output spans feature film, TV series, music videos and online content.

We founded LUCA in 2015 with the intention of building a kind and compassionate structure through which to make exceptional work. We approach each project afresh with curious minds, appreciating the commissioning process and valuing collaboration.

As we have no interest in the traditional capitalistic model of 'business growth' we re-invest our profit in filmmaking, remaining an ever evolving sum of our respective parts.

We have a modest trophy cabinet containing a Webby, a British Arrow, a Hot Docs Audience Award and a BIFA and BAFTA nomination.

LUCA is currently led by Posy Dixon (UK & USA) and Liv Proctor (UK). Co-founder Jim Demuth is presently on sabbatical.
The last universal common ancestor (LUCA), cenancestor, or progenote, is the most recent organism from which all organisms now living on Earth have a common descent.
LUCA should not be assumed to be the first living organism on Earth. The LUCA is estimated to have lived some 3.5 to 3.8 billion years ago).
